What is cataphoresis?

Does your therapist run a little metal roller over the treatment area for a few minutes at the end of a session? Does it feel a bit prickly? What is going on?

This technique is called cataphoresis, and involves the application of an ionised gel to the skin using a metal electrode. The current flow helps to push the active ingredients of the gel (and all its helpful, healing properties) into the skin, aiding skin healing. Cataphoresis can also help to reduce post-treatment redness, tighten pores and follicles, has a naturally antibacterial effect and pushes moisture back into the deeper layers of the skin.

Cataphoresis is such a simple and easy way to improve skin healing and condition, and is well worth considering as a treatment option for a few minutes following electrolysis treatments.
